Stage 3

    Go back

Stage 3 is a very busy and productive time for students in Years 5 and 6. As senior members of the school population they are role models for behaviour, attitude, uniform, participation and enthusiasm. The expectation in Stage 3 is to always do your personal best by being a reliable and responsible representative of our school.

Stage 3 students are involved in many responsible roles throughout the year. Year 5 students assist in organising home sport and act as sport store room monitors providing access to equipment for other students. They also participate in Peer Support as co leaders, assisting the leaders in all aspects of the program. Year 5 students can also become House Captains and Vice Captains.

All Year 6 students are trained to participate in both Peer Support and Peer Mediation programs as leaders and mediators developing their skills in leadership, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution. Student leaders are part of the SRC committee  and assist the Captains and Vice Captains. The leadership program allows senior students to take a more active and positive role in school organisation, student monitoring and decision making. Some students have the role of Library monitors and lunch time supervisors for Library activities.

Stage 3 students attend a 3 day camp to Canberra and the Snow. Visits include the old and new Parliament Houses, Electoral Centre, War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport and Questacon where they experience hands on Science activities. Night time activities include a disco and games night. The highlight for most students is their ride on the chairlift and their time in the snow.  This year students will participate in a skilling lesson and skiing experience.

Year 5 students will attend a movie/party day as an end of yeaar treat.  Year 6 students will attend Luna Park as an end of year treat.  Year 6 will finish their primary years with a farewell evening in Term 4.

Stage 3 students at Toongabbie Public School experience a balance of academic, sport, creative and social activities with the expectation of becoming reliable, responsible, mature, well behaved and well mannered individuals.
