In 2009, all students at Toongabbie Public School will be participating in the Evening of Performing Arts. This will be held in Term 3.
All students participate in Performing Arts Groups on a weekly basis. Performing Arts groups consist of Dance, Drama, Percussion, Choir and Band. Groups are comprised of students within year groups and across different stages.
Dance - Each year the students from Year 1 to Year 6 eagerly await the call to audition for this much sought after Dance Group. Led by a talented, experienced teacher, this group performed their modern routines in a variety of settings including at our Performing Arts Night, at the Hills Festival and at assemblies.
Drumming Club - While Toongabbie Public School is equipped with a wide range of percussion instruments that are constantly used in classroom programs we have recently purchased multiple sets of Djembe drums. Teachers attended training sessions and are now in the process of imparting the aspect of beat, rhythm, ostinato pattern etc. in this fun and exciting method using these drums. Students may end up with red palms from the continuous beating but the results and smiling faces say it is all worthwhile. Performances occur throughout the year at assemblies and at our Evening of Performing Arts.
Drama - A specialised Drama group love to attend weekly sessions with enthusistic teachers from Year 3 and the Library. Students are encouraged to use thier own ideas to develop and also improvise as they progress through a range of characterisations and play building. This is a confidence boost for even the most reserved student. Polished performances occur at our Evening of Performing Arts and assemblies.
Music - At Toongabbie Public School students in Year 3 - Year 6 are given the opportunity to be a member of the Training band and Concert band.
